Already in the XVIIIth century, the “caegheri” (whose activity was linked to the manufacture and the care of footwear) actually designed and repaired shoes for Venetian nobility on holiday in their villas along the banks of the Brenta river.
As time passed by, the art of shoemaking became a major industry in the area.
The first unforgettable experience will be a visit to fabulous villa Foscarini-Rossi in Strà The eighteenth-century mansion hosts the Rossimoda Museum with more than 1,500 pairs of shoes. This exhibition is the result of a long-standing collaboration between the shoe factory Rossimoda and a number of famous designers as Fendi, Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Lacroix, Ungaro, Givenchy, Pucci.
Ancient shoes (dating back to XVIIIth and XIXth centuries) and Lagerfeld’s unique heels (for cruel mistresses) are surrounded by amazing frescos, magic and mysticism.
